About Beyond Seoul Korea

KOREA IS MORE THAN SEOUL. THIS BLOG EXISTS TO PROVE IT.

Beyond Seoul Korea is a practical travel resource for independent travelers who want to explore Korea on their own terms — beyond the well-worn tourist circuit of Myeongdong, Gyeongbokgung, and Bukchon Hanok Village.

WHO THIS BLOG IS FOR

This blog is for you if:

  • You’ve been to Seoul (or you’re skipping it) and want to see what the rest of Korea looks like
  • You travel independently and want real, usable information — not vague inspiration
  • You’re curious about Korean food, culture, and history beyond the K-drama highlights
  • You want to know which bus to take, how much things actually cost, and whether somewhere is worth the trip

WHAT MAKES THIS BLOG DIFFERENT

Most English-language Korea travel content focuses almost entirely on Seoul, with occasional side trips to Busan or Jeju. The result is that vast, genuinely beautiful parts of the country go unwritten in English — leaving independent travelers without the information they need.

Beyond Seoul Korea fills that gap. Every guide here is built on firsthand experience, honest assessment, and the kind of practical detail that actually helps you make decisions.

WHY JEONBUK?

Jeonbuk — the province home to Jeonju, Naejangsan, Namwon, Imsil, and Gunsan — is one of Korea’s most underrated regions for English-speaking visitors. It has Korea’s largest traditional hanok village, the country’s first UNESCO City of Gastronomy, one of the best autumn landscapes in East Asia, and almost no English-language travel coverage worth reading.

That’s a problem I’m here to fix.
